::  Super Bowl ::

The Raiders, five times received an opportunity to be a part of the championship game of pro American football. Out of five they were dominant in three Super Bowl playoff. They made their debut in Super Bowl II on 14th January 1968 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida before a crowd of 75,546. At that time the Raiders competed under the guidance of John Rauch against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers after winning their third successive NFL finals earned the Super Bowl title for the second straight year, knocking the AFL winner, Raiders by 33-14. The Packers took the hold of the game in the third quarter scoring a touchdown and a field goal. Quarterback Back Starr became the games’ MVP. The Raiders made their second Super Bowl appearance on 9th January 1977 at the Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California, after winning their first NFL championship. They proved their mettle in Super Bowl XI against Minnesota Vikings by 32-14 in front of 103,438 admirers and 81 million television viewers. Raiders wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff set three 3 TDs on four receptions which earned him the leagues MVP trophy.

After the quartet of years, the Raiders after beating San Diego Chargers in the AFC championship by 34-27, headed to participate in the Super Bowl XV. On 25th January 1981, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans Saints, Louisiana, the Raiders took home the victory by 27-10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Quarterback Jim Plunkett with nine seconds left in the first quarter gave Oakland an impetus with 14-0 lead with an 80-yarder hit. The Raiders became the first wild-card team to take the Super Bowl. Plunkett finished 13 of 21 for 261 yards and became the MVP. In the Super Bowl XVIII, the Raiders in third successive stroke sacked the Washington Redskins by 38-9 on 22nd January 1984 at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Raiders right from the initiation of the game conquered the field. This was an unbalanced game for the Redskins since they were badly crushed by the Raiders. Running back Marcus Allen set a record of registering 191 yards on 20 carries in coordination with the instructions as set by the coach Al Davis. Allen was designated as the games’ MVP. At that time the Raiders were famed as the Los Angeles Raiders.

Raiders Superbowl

 The Raiders came up short in the Super Bowl XXXVII where they were dominated by the defensive performance of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on 26th January 2003 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. At that time the Buccaneers were coached by Jon Gruden. Until 2001 he instructed the Raiders and it was felt that as if he was attentive of the “Raiders” moves. Buccaneers safety Dexter Jackson had 2 of 5 interceptions and was became the MVP. In the History of Super Bowl he is the eighth defensive player to win the honor.
